Musicianship in Limerick

Limerick has given rise to some great musical stars, notably the late Dolores O'Riordan and some of her band members, Mike and Noel Hogan. These same stars have given back to the area with them doing charitable events, mentoring young musicians in the area and it was in fact at the University of Limerick where the group garnered its first serious success by being offered a recording deal from Island Records, after playing a gig there at a student’s union concert.

Today, you can study music and dance at the university which will offer you the opportunities to learn how to record music, organise and plan performances as well as tours and business plans. You’ll also become familiar with traditional and popular music and dance practices allowing you to have a wider understanding of having music as a career and the history of music in Ireland
