About Evie
I specialise in helping students build confidence in English and unlock their full potential, no matter where they’re starting from. I know first-hand that progress isn’t always linear — I went from being predicted an E at A-Level English to achieving an A, so I understand what it feels like to struggle with the subject and what actually works when it comes to turning things around.
My approach is warm, supportive, and down-to-earth. I focus on making English feel clearer, more manageable, and even enjoyable, rather than overwhelming. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student, combining practical exam technique with simple, effective strategies for essay writing, analysis, and interpretation. I break things down step by step so students can really understand what they’re doing — not just memorise it.
Above all, I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving at their own pace. Confidence is a huge part of success in English, and I work closely with each student to build that alongside their academic skills.
I am currently studying Business Studies and Marketing at university, and I bring strong communication and organisation skills developed through both academic study and real-world work experience. My lessons are always well-prepared, structured, and focused on clear progress.
I work with GCSE and A-Level English students (typically ages 14–18) who want to improve their grades, strengthen their understanding, or simply feel more confident in the subject. Whether you’re aiming to pass, push for top grades, or just stop feeling stuck, I’m here to help you get there.

My teaching methodology
My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, goals, and learning style. I focus on building confidence alongside academic achievement by breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. Lessons combine guided practice, exam-focused techniques, and constructive feedback to help students improve their reading, writing, analysis, and critical thinking skills. For exam students, I place a strong emphasis on essay structure, exam technique, and effective revision strategies.
Lesson length
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, providing enough time to cover key topics, work through examples, and review progress. Longer sessions can be arranged if required.
Qualifications and experience
I achieved A-Level qualifications and took a gap year before university, gaining valuable professional experience in the workplace. During this time, I developed strong communication, writing, and organisational skills, including creating a CV that resulted in a high success rate when applying for jobs. I am currently studying Business Studies and Marketing at university, which continues to strengthen my analytical, research, and communication abilities. My approach combines academic knowledge with practical, real-world skills.
Who my lessons are for
My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-Level students (ages 14–18) who are looking to improve their English skills, prepare for exams, strengthen essay-writing techniques, or build confidence in the subject. I also welcome students who simply want extra support with coursework, revision, or developing their reading and writing abilities.
