Media Studies Tutoring — A-Level & University Support As a Media Studies tutor with hands-on academic and practical experience, I offer personalised, engaging, and outcomes-driven lessons tailored to help students build both analytical confidence and creative flair. What My Lessons Offer Structured Learning, Tailored to You Each lesson is thoughtfully structured around the student's current syllabus (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, or university module guides). I break down complex theory into accessible, visual explanations and build understanding through case studies, past paper practice, and media artefact analysis. Typical Lesson Breakdown: Warm-up (5 mins): Quick recap of media-based quiz to reinforce prior knowledge. Core Focus (30 mins): Deep dive into theory or topic (e.g. semiotics, Marxism, Postmodernism, industry contexts, representation, audience theory). Application (15 mins): Practice with unseen media texts, short essay planning, or creative ideation. Wrap-Up (10 mins): Key takeaways, feedback, and homework guidance. Academic Rigour Meets Creative Thinking I combine academic depth with industry-relevant insights — whether that's helping an A-Level student improve their 25-marker essays or supporting a university student in preparing for critical reflections, practical coursework, or dissertations. Students benefit from: Essay technique coaching Exam board assessment insights University-level research and referencing support Visual analysis and production planning guidance Feedback on written work, scripts, storyboards, or presentations What Separates an A Student from an A* Student? In Media Studies, the line between an A and an A* often comes down to precision, originality, and depth of insight. An A-grade student can structure an argument, apply key theorists, and meet the assessment objectives. But an A* student goes further. In our sessions, I train students to think like modern A* candidates. They will build not just content knowledge, but confidence, critical voice, and exam technique that stands out from their peers. Whether you're aiming to boost a grade or secure top university offers, I’ll help you move from “competent” to “compelling.” Why I'm Qualified A* Media studies student, achieving a 98% score. Recent graduate of Media & Creative Industries at a top UK university (University of Warwick), graduating with a 1st. Strong foundation in media theory, film studies, marketing, and visual storytelling Experience mentoring peers and teaching younger students in media and essay-writing skills Background in screenwriting, documentary production, and experiential marketing Who This Is For A-Level students aiming for A/A* grades or preparing to study Media at degree level. University students tackling critical theory, dissertations, or media production modules. Curious learners wanting to explore media, storytelling, or analysis beyond the classroom.
