About Jalen
I'm a musician and artist. I've taught beginner level piano, music and voice to local kids in my community so I understand how daunting learning a new skill or subject can be. With this in mind I aim to make it just a little less stressful with music intergrated into my lessons.

I believe in student centered lessons over results focused. If students are instilled with confidence in knowledge and given every opportunity to show what they've learned, success will always follow. I like to guide my students through a lesson gauging their prior knowledge first and immediately presenting connection points. Asking - Why does this lesson matters, why does this subject matter? Hopefully getting them to the point of being able to Teach it back to me as I pretend to be their student. Being able to answer any questions I throw at them and internalizing the information, making sense of it is my goal. I strive to give them every opportunity to explore their own ability.
