About Maaike

My name is Maaike. I am a licensed English teacher and an amateur adventurer. I love meeting new people and discovering other cultures. I have traveled a lot. I worked in tourism as a tour guide, receptionist,... Who knows, I may have been to your country?
I have been teaching Dutch to non-native speakers since October 2022. Language is essential to connect people from different countries and with different backgrounds. It's the foundation of every conversation and to understand one another. I enjoy hearing about culture differences and love finding simularities between various cultures. Let's connect more with the world around us!

About the lesson

Together we look at what your needs are and work on them. As an English teacher I have the tools to guide you while learning this universal languange.

Who can take these classes?
- Beginners: you don't speak any, or a little, English. We start at your level. Vocabulary, grammar and easy conversation.
- Advanced: you speak basic English, but want to improve your language. You want to train grammar, pronunciation or fluency.
- Experts: your English is good, but you want to become a super expert. We take a look at what your interests are and how we can finetune.

The lessons are tailor-made for you. We work towards the end goals and use your strengths for this. Together we make sure you are able to connect with others in English!

Deadly! Op het moment ik deze recensie schrijf, volg ik sinds een drietal weken les Engels bij Maaike. Momenteel schaaft Maaike aan de tekorten die zich stellen. Met heel veel geduld en een heldere manier van uiteenzetten, maak ik al goede vorderingen. Het lijkt er zelfs op dat we al langer dan drie weken bezig zijn. Maaike maakt de les boeiend, waar er moeilijker onderdelen zijn tracht ze dit op te lossen met extra oefeningen of met visuele hulpmiddelen (bvb schema’s.) Kortom, deze enthousiaste lerares met veel geduld en inzicht kunnen ten volste aangeraden worden.

I met Maaike while hiking the Camino de Santiago and we spent many hours and days with one another often in deep conversation on various life topics. She is a beautiful soul that has an amazing way of challenging you kindly and lovingly without judgment as to the “why” of your ways, your habits, your actions and your thoughts.
I had the incredible opportunity to be guided by her through a yoga practice and meditation. She has such a way with words…clear, kind and loving. Her voice is so calming. And she shares her deep knowledge in a way that is supportive and uplifting leaving you feeling lighter, seen and heard.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to know Maaike and to have had a chance to be guided by her. Highly recommend her as a teacher / guide as she has amazing listening skills and is patient, kind and respectful.
