About Dennis

Hi! I'm a nurse, tutor, coach, and teacher with experience working as an LPN, CCA, and kinesiologist in various clinical environments. My varied background has allowed me to look at patient care from several different perspectives. I've seen how the concepts students learn in the classroom connect with the realities of working with patients and healthcare teams.

As an instructor, I enjoy helping students take complicated material and break it down into something understandable and manageable.
My teaching style is patient, practical, and focused on understanding rather than simply memorizing information. When we're working through a difficult topic, I'll help you understand the reasoning behind it and how the different pieces fit together.

Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions.

We'll start by identifying what you're struggling with and then build the lesson around it. You can bring your course material, notes, study guides, practice questions, or simply tell me which topic is giving you trouble.

Depending on your needs, we can work on:
Understanding concepts: I'll break complicated nursing material into smaller pieces and explain it in straightforward language.
Clinical reasoning: We'll connect assessment findings, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, medications, interventions, and patient care so you can understand the bigger picture.
Practice questions: We'll work through questions together and, most importantly, discuss the reasoning behind the answer.

Exam preparation: We'll identify high-priority topics, review difficult material, and develop a focused study plan.
Building your foundation: If you're struggling because of gaps in your basic knowledge, we'll go back and strengthen those areas before moving forward.

With my background as an LPN, CCA, and kinesiologist, I can bring a broad healthcare perspective to our lessons and help connect classroom learning with practical patient-care concepts.

My goal isn't simply to help you pass your next exam. It's to help you understand the material well enough to apply it with confidence.
