About Kiril
I got into History through languages and literature, and I still read both for fun outside my degree. I'd rather a student learn to think and argue properly than just memorise what an examiner wants. Away from studying I ski, fence, and help run a couple of societies at the LSE.

I'm a History undergraduate at the LSE and just finished my first year with a First. My degree covers early modern history, imperialism, anthropology and political literature, but it's History and English Literature that I tutor. Before LSE I left school top of my year with 39 points in the IB, including a 7 in Bulgarian Literature and a 6 in Higher Level History — so I've sat these exams fairly recently myself.
Most of what I do comes down to building an argument. Whether it's a history essay or a piece on a novel, the marks come from a clear point, good evidence, and answering the actual question rather than writing down everything you know. So we read closely, plan essays that make a case, and practise to time until it stops feeling stressful. I don't use one fixed method for everyone — some students need help getting an essay to hold together, some want to push their analysis further, and some just want to feel calmer walking into the exam.
Lessons are usually an hour, or 90 minutes if we're deep in essay work or it's close to exams. I'll normally set a bit of writing or reading in between and give you proper feedback on it, because that's where the progress actually happens.
I teach History and English Literature at GCSE, A-Level and IB, and I'm happy to help with humanities university applications too.
