About Danius Jean

I hold a Master’s in Statistics from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Warwick. I’ve worked as a machine learning engineer in both the pharmaceutical and financial sectors, where I developed models for real-world applications — from predicting clinical trial outcomes to pricing financial assets. Over the past five years, I’ve helped students and professionals learn machine learning from the ground up, master key algorithms, and build portfolio-ready projects. I’ve supported university students with coursework, MSc theses, and exam preparation, as well as early-career professionals looking to transition into data science or strengthen their practical skills. I enjoy making machine learning intuitive — not just teaching how to write code, but helping you understand the logic behind the algorithms so you can apply them with confidence in real-world settings.

About the lesson

I offer tailored machine learning lessons based on your goals — whether you're a student working through a university module, a professional upskilling for work, or someone building a personal project. I’ve worked as a machine learning engineer in both pharma and finance, and I’ve been teaching ML for over five years. Lessons can be theory-based, project-driven, or code-focused depending on what you need. I teach using Python (primarily with Scikit-learn, XGBoost, Pandas, and NumPy), but I’m also comfortable supporting students who use R or want to understand models at a conceptual level. I regularly teach: - Supervised Learning (Linear/Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Gradient Boosting) - Unsupervised Learning (Clustering, PCA, Dimensionality Reduction) - Model Evaluation (Cross-validation, ROC AUC, Confusion Matrix, Precision/Recall) - Feature Engineering & Data Preprocessing - Time Series Forecasting - Hyperparameter Tuning (GridSearchCV, RandomisedSearchCV, Optuna) - Intro to Deep Learning (if needed – e.g., Keras, TensorFlow basics) Whether you're working through an ML module at university, building a portfolio for job applications, or trying to understand how algorithms work under the hood, I can guide you with clear explanations and practical examples. Lessons are interactive, flexible, and always focused on helping you gain real understanding — not just run code.
