About Mai

Hi, my name is Mai, I’m a native Japanese speaker from Tokyo, currently living near Yokota Air Base in Japan.

I work in Talent Acquisition at an agritech company in Tokyo, specializing in recruiting Japanese-English bilingual professionals.

Previously, I worked at a recruiting agency, supporting bilingual candidates in finding career opportunities in Japan.

I graduated from Otemae University and completed a Japanese language teacher training program. I also studied accounting at Leeward Community College in Hawaii.

I’m passionate about traveling and have lived in Australia, China, Macau, Egypt, and the USA (Hawaii, Arizona, and North Carolina).

Deadly! I have recently begun learning Japanese from Mai. She is an amazing, methodical teacher with a wonderful attention to detail. She works with me on my pronunciation by repetition, which is the way I like to learn. She is also friendly and polite. She presents material that is, without being way over my head, a bit of a challenge, which I like. She is very intuitive, in that she is able to assess my learning style and competency. I would recommend learning Japanese from Mai to anyone who wants to learn the language! I will hopefully be her student for a long time!
