About Maja

Hello! My name is Maja, and I’m a 23-year-old French native living in Australia. I moved here a year ago, and I’m excited to share my love for the French language with others! Having completed all my schooling in France, I’m fluent in both French and English, and I understand the challenges that come with learning a new language. I'm located in South-Western suburbs of Sydney but I would gladly give lessons in local libraries or via Zoom. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn French, someone looking to improve your skills, or preparing for an upcoming trip to France, I’m here to help! About the lesson

My techniques and methodology: My goal is to make learning French both enjoyable and effective. I use a variety of interactive methods to cater to different learning styles. My lessons combine a mix of conversation practice, grammar exercises, and cultural insights, helping students gain a well-rounded understanding of the language. I also like to incorporate real-world materials like French music, films, or news articles, so students can practice their listening and comprehension skills in authentic contexts. I encourage lots of speaking from the very first lesson, even if it’s just simple phrases, to build confidence and fluency. For more advanced students, I focus on refining their grammar and expanding their vocabulary to make their speech more nuanced. I also emphasize pronunciation, as it’s key to being understood by native speakers. Typical Length of a Lesson: Each lesson typically lasts 60 minutes, allowing us to dive deep into a topic while also keeping things engaging. I usually start with a short recap of previous lessons to refresh knowledge, then introduce new content, and end with a review or a quick activity to reinforce the material. I’m flexible with lesson length depending on the student’s needs—sometimes we may extend to 90 minutes for more complex topics or projects. Qualifications and Experience: I’ve completed all of my schooling in France, so I’m a native French speaker with a deep understanding of both the language and its cultural context. I’ve been tutoring French for over a year now, with experience teaching students from various backgrounds and skill levels. My experience includes working with beginner learners who are just starting their French journey, as well as advanced students seeking to refine their skills for business or travel. I also have a strong foundation in the challenges English speakers face when learning French, so I’m able to tailor my lessons to make the process smoother. In addition to tutoring, I’ve been involved in organizing language workshops and events, which has helped me develop a range of creative techniques for engaging students and making learning fun.
