About Youkang

Hi! I’m Harry, a native speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese. I grew up speaking Chinese and can help students learn not only the language itself, but also the natural expressions, pronunciation, and cultural context that are often difficult to learn from textbooks alone.

I’m currently a Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley and have experience teaching and working with students from different backgrounds. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and personalized to each student’s goals and learning level.

I can help with Mandarin or Cantonese conversation, pronunciation and tones, vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing Chinese characters, listening comprehension, and everyday communication. I can also explain differences between Mandarin and Cantonese and help students sound more natural when speaking.

Whether you are learning Chinese for school, travel, work, family, or personal interest, I’m happy to tailor lessons to what you want to achieve and help you become more confident using Chinese in real-life situations.

About the lesson

This Chinese language course is designed for students who want to improve their Mandarin or Cantonese through personalized, practical, and engaging lessons. As a native speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese, I can help students develop stronger speaking, listening, pronunciation, vocabulary, reading, and conversational skills.

Lessons can be adapted to your current level, whether you are a complete beginner, an intermediate learner, or someone who already speaks Chinese and wants to become more fluent. Depending on your goals, we can focus on:
