About David

Hi! I am a professional drummer and percussionist with over 10 years of teaching experience, sharing all the musical knowledge and experience I’ve collected through my studies and career in the U.S., Spain, and Cuba. My areas of expertise include Jazz, Latin, Funk and World Music.

I’ve earned two master’s degrees in music and regularly perform and teach throughout the Los Angeles area. I would love to help you prepare for your next college/conservatory audition, or simply help you enjoy music, rhythm and drumming on a deeper level.

About the lesson

I help drummers develop a stronger, more confident relationship with their instrument by focusing on the skills and concepts that lead to long-term musical growth.

Many drummers spend years practicing without feeling like they are truly progressing because they don't have a clear and cohesive approach. My goal is to help you understand what you are practicing, why you are practicing it, and how to apply it to real music.

Every student is different, so our lessons begin by identifying your strengths, challenges, musical goals, and the areas where you feel stuck. From there, we build a personalized roadmap around these five pillars: Rhythmic Ear Training, Technique, Repertoire, Groove Building, and Improvisation.

You’ll leave each lesson with a clear understanding of what to work on and practical exercises that you can immediately apply to your playing. My goal is not simply to teach you more things, but to help you become a more independent, creative, and confident musician.
