About Joelle
I have a B.A. in political science and have been a student of history for almost 12 years. Currently, I am working toward my Master in Education and am certified to teach 7-12 social studies! I have 6 years of experience teaching music to students of all ages and have spent time working with social studies students in both middle and high school!

I like to approach social studies as a practice, not a set of pre-determined dates and facts. That means that my students will learn the skills needed to navigate primary and secondary sources and actively engage with the act of history! Students will explore a wide variety of sources and voices from history as a means of developing a full understanding of our past. I take a critical approach to history which asks students to examine the validity, bias, and relevance of sources.
