About Jessie
I am a recent MFA graduate from Syracuse University with a history in education. Since my graduations I am a working artist based in Appalachia but travel between my mountain home and Argentina. The creative research I engage in and my arts practice is rooted in crafts and folk arts of mountains areas. Focusing on the direct connections that mountain communities have to the land that become apparent in the art and process to make it.
My works take the form of sculptures that utilize weaving, ceramics, printmaking, and textiles techniques that I then grow mushrooms through. Together we talk about interspecies connections, how mining impacts these relationships, and the fumbles and success of being in community.

My lessons are personalized to the student and their needs. As an educator with ADHD I come equipped with a tool box of learning strategies and understanding.
My services include proofreading, term paper, and thesis review. My approach is more rooted in the content and flow of the document rather than pure grammar, but I will make edits as a see them. Given my experience in art history I'm well versed with writing and editing larger papers and documents.
My content tutoring includes art theory, and history. I'm especially well versed in the history of graphic design and content between the early 1900's to 1940's.
Additional content tutoring includes the sciences with a focus on Mycology, intro Biology, and ecology. With in my personal arts practices these are topics that I touch on and regularly research. I have taken several graduate level science classes in Mycology, and plant propagation, with several undergraduate classes.
