About Miles
I am a French tutor with over 4 years of teaching experience and a Master of Arts in French Linguistics in International Studies. My background combines deep language expertise with a strong focus on global cultural awareness. I believe that learning French is not just about grammar and vocabulary—it's about understanding the world through a new lens. My lessons are engaging and globally relevant. I regularly bring in current events, news articles, music, films, and interviews from Francophone countries to create a rich and immersive learning environment. Intercultural dialogue is a key part of my approach, helping students explore cultural values, expressions, and perspectives from across the French-speaking world. I work with students and professionals who are internationally focused—those preparing for travel, work, or study abroad. My French teaching approach is friendly, structured, and flexible to each student’s needs. I work with both beginners and intermediate learners, helping them build confidence and fluency step by step. Every lesson is personalized, focusing on real-life communication and practical usage.
We start with the basics—grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation—but I make sure it never feels overwhelming. I include plenty of listening comprehension activities using dialogues, songs, and videos to improve understanding and accent. Verb conjugation is taught in context, making it easier to remember and use correctly.
I also focus on everyday slang and idiomatic expressions, which are key to sounding natural in conversation. For learners preparing to travel or live in a French-speaking country, I offer lessons designed around travel scenarios like ordering food, asking for directions, and shopping.
My lessons are especially helpful for newcomers adapting to a new environment or hobby learners who want to enjoy the beauty of the French language. I support every student in learning at their own pace, celebrating progress and encouraging curiosity.
