I love to be part of the beginning of a language learner's journey. As part of my teaching, I often find ways to connect learning back to what the learner already knows in ways that let them learn more than just the words of another language (for example, words like "dafür" and "wofür" are related to the English "therefore" and "wherefore"!).
I also believe that boring learning is ineffective learning, and there's research to back that up! When learning the right way to make the sounds in German, I love to make silly faces guaranteed to make you make the right sound, and when I've taught classes, we often use songs to help learn, whether children's songs aimed at learning body parts, or listening to popular music for what we're learning.
