My son started piano lessons with Matt over 3 years ago, at age 6. I can't say enough great things about how things have progressed! Matt is really great with kids - full of encouraging words and high-fives. But anyone can act enthusiastic. What sets Matt apart is that he is REAL, and he KNOWS his stuff. He is genuinely excited when a student plays a song perfectly. My son is even learning bits of music theory from Matt - something you won't get from a standard piano teacher following a standard piano book. It helps him to really understand things, more than just memorizing. (From eavesdropping, I have personally learned some really interesting concepts from music theory that would have changed *everything* had I been presented with that knowledge as a kid myself.) He has learned to play many songs of his own choice - and complicated ones, too! At age 9, he's really proud of what he can play and looks forward to his next lesson with Matt. The online lessons are every bit as good as in person lessons - no need to be concerned about that. And it's worth saying that my kid is a hard worker, but not a prodigy by any means, so I know that anyone with an interest can achieve this too - with the right teacher, of course.
