About Lucy

I have a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in the arts. My majors, minors and specialisations have included Arts, Literature, Theatre studies, Theatre History, Acting, Politics, Criminology, Sociology, Gender Studies, International Relations, and Public Policy.

I have an in-depth understanding of social, historical, and political landscapes that shape the Victorian English curriculum. I love reading, and I have studied many (at a high school and university level) classic VCE English texts such as Shakespeare and Greek Tragedy.

I have a passion for and skills in oral and written presentation, persuasive writing and analysis, comparative analysis, critical analysis, and general debates and discourse in the Arts realm(s).

I have faced the challenge of developing my passion for English and humanities subjects on my own, and I would love to pass these lessons onto you. If you don't already love English and Arts studies, I can help you/your child find your/their interest in it.

I currently work in the family violence sector as a National Policy and Advocacy specialist. My role includes analysis and development of policy, briefs, research and other advocacy materials and processes.

About the lesson

Experienced English tutor taking new students!

I can help with homework, facilitate an enriched reading of assigned texts, mark essays against curriculum and help develop students’ overall passion for English - a key, and often abandoned element to improving English skills. A key strength lies in achieving results in the VCE Oral assessment. No student of mine has received below an A for their presentation.

I am keen to work with anyone, at any level, who is seeking English or Arts help. I have completed over 5 years of university undergraduate and postgraduate Arts, Politics and Social Sciences study on top of VCE.

I have an open availability on the weekends and most weeknights after 5pm.

My method centres the student’s needs and interests. I have cracked the code to getting students to want to apply themselves in English. It is a top passion of mine to walk the path alongside someone through the Arts. My tutoring sessions are a safe space. I do not add pressure, rather, I foster curiosity and make space for students to step into their own.
