About Jordan
Master's student at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire studying trombone. I receive trombone tuition from Antony Howe, Ed Jones, and Amos Miller. I have a first-class undergraduate degree from Huddersfield University where I studied both jazz nd classical trombone. I have a varied musical background having played in orchestras, brass bands, pop/funk bands, jazz quartets, and big bands amongst many other ensembles and settings. I have worked in schools as a Cover Supervisor and Music Teacher, as well as having worked as an Academic Mentor for a GCSE Music class. I also currently have two students from South Africa whom I teach over zoom weekly though Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's ARCO programme.

Much of my teaching is about relaxation and feeling at ease and in control when playing. Having a clear plan of what it is we want to achieve and finding the most efficient and effective ways of achieving it. Mindset and mentality is so important when making music, and this is something I like to touch on invert lesson.
One of the most powerful things we have as musicians is our voice. This develops a strong idea of what you want to sound like in your mind helps all aspects of playing and is also central to my teaching method. In terms of developing playing technique, a structured and controlled approach is what I have found to be best in my experience. My lessons aim to be engaging, motivational, and ability-appropriate. I am available to tutor for a consultation lesson, exam preparation (GCSE/A level/ABRSM/Trinity), audition preparation, or just for fun and overall musical development.
