About Mark
I have been teaching college English and Writing for over thirty years. I do not presume a certain skillset that the student already possesses. This is why I begin on a basic level and then teach building block style; that is, everything builds on everything else.

I try to dissuade my students from the notion that they are either intuitively good at essay writing, or intuitively not. To that end, I teach writing as a process that has identifiable (and easily understood) stages all leading to a final, polished work. Anybody can do this!
