About Gwyneth
I am a professional freelance violinist and a Master’s graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I spent my childhood in New Zealand and studied violin with Dimitri Atanassov, now a luthier of repute in Cremona, Italy. I moved back to England in 2016 to study with Karin Leishman at the Wells Cathedral School, after which I went on to attain a Bachelor’s of Music and a Masters of Performance, both with First Class Honours, under the tutelage of Professor Krzysztof Śmietana at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
As a young violinist in New Zealand, I found my passion for music through playing in, and eventually leading, school and youth orchestras, being part of award-winning youth chamber groups, and performing several solo pieces with Orchestra, including Bruch Violin Concerto no. 1 and Telemann Violin Concerto TWV 51:E3.
My professional career as a freelance artist now consists of performing, teaching, and session playing. I have fortunately had the opportunity to perform abroad in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Israel, and Hong Kong. I have gotten to enjoy being a teacher for eight years now and my experience includes private teaching, being an assistant at the Guildhall Young Artists centre, numerous projects with primary schools to introduce music to young children, and coaching chamber groups. I currently have eleven students ranging from beginner to advanced level, and I have guided several of them through their ABRSM and Trinity grade exams. Most recently I had a student attain an ATCL Diploma.

My main goals as a teacher are to help my students improve their technical skill, mature their musical ideas and learn effective practice methods.
The outline of my typical lesson consists of scales, a study and a piece. This creates a solid technical foundation while also expanding the students repertoire. Depending on the student’s goals, I can also incorporate aural/ sight reading practice into the lesson to move onto the ABRSM or Trinity syllabus to prepare for graded exams.

Deadly! Excellent teacher! Love her positivity, kindness, enthusiasm. Great balance of technique exercises and fun pieces. Learnt very much from her so far!
Deadly! Gwyneth is a brilliant and patient tutor that I would highly recommend to all learners whether they are starting from scratch or high level. She teaches my kids (Violin level 2 and level 8) for 1 year more than 150 hrs. by Skype. Gwyneth is a passionate and hardworking violinist that has been pursuing a career in musical performance from a young age. I highly recommend her.
