About Martha
After studying Film and Media studies for 2 years, I transferred to study Sociology in Dundee where I gained a First Class Sociology degree. During this period, I volunteered as a research assistant on 3 Sociology research projects (two qualitative and one quantitative) - one of these gained a SPARQS prize. I love social theory and have always been commended for my ability to explain complex theories in simple ways. I received a First Class grade for my Dissertation entitled "A Post-Colonial Feminist Analysis of Hegemonic Western Assumptions Surrounding the Hijab (as a Symbol of Gendered Oppression)" which explored race theory, feminist theory and sociological approaches to religion.
I am currently studying towards my Masters degree (MRes Sociology and Research Methods) and am maintaining a distinction. I am also the elected President of Glasgow University's Sociology Society and the Sociology representative of the School of Social and Political Sciences Staff/Student Engagement Forum. My current research is on Sugar-Dating; focusing on Neoliberalism, gender and power.

I do not have one set method of teaching - I believe everyone learns differently and I approach teaching with this mantra. Therefore, I ensure my teaching approach reflects the needs of the student and so I make sure the student decides works best for them. I am available to give online sessions or meet face-to-face.
