About Mme Jiyeon

MY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES :

- McGill University French Immersion Elementary Education Teacher in Training (Accomplished 3rd year).

- 2 consecutive teaching internship accomplished in French Immersion primary schools in Montréal, Québec- Taught 4th, 5th, 6th grade students, Français langue seconde.

- Devised, planned, developed, and taught lesson and activities for Français langue seconde for 5th grade Québec French immersion curriculum.

- 3+ years FSL teaching experience for various age groups.

MY PEDAGOGICAL(TEACHING AND LEARNING) VISION :

My main pedagogical vision centers on the value of taking into account the learner's cultural, and linguistical diversity into my teaching practices which roots from my own pluricultural and multilingual identity (Born in Korea, grew up in Canada, pursuing my studies in Québec today).

For me, language learning means different for each and every learner, and by supporting the learner's aspirations and values as the cultural individual and communicator I aim to become the guiding force in the learning experience of French as a second language with and for all my students.

Therefore, language learning is a wholistic process, not a one-way destination. No matter where you are from or how long you have been learning the language, I am confident that my students will learn to excel in French and develop a sense of meaning into the self as each unique language learners and communicators in our world through my teaching and guidance through every step of the learning journey.

b) MY UNIQUENESS AS A HUMAN AND MY TEACHING APPROACH AS THE EDUCATOR :

As the Korean-Canadian passionate French speaker and French educator, my teaching approach centers on :
1. Constructive learning (Knowledge is constructed together; Learners arrive into my teaching space with their anterior knowledge, diverse perspectives , and uniqueness of their own world vision formed by one's cultural and familial bagage).

2. Inquiry-based learning (Question-posing is equally critical as solution finding).

3. Cross-linguistic approach (Incorporation of learner's First language or second language into my FSL teaching practices, to promote learner's cultural identity and engender plurilingual experience within and of FSL teaching and learning ).

4. Scaffolding and Zone of Proximal Development (Lesson, guided practice, and autonomous production).
