About Louis

I’m a media composer, music producer and tutor working across film, theatre and interactive media. My practice combines composition with audio production, orchestral programming, sound design and experimental approaches to sampling.

I’m completing an MA in Composition for Film and Television at the University of Bristol, supported by the Snowdon Trust Master’s Scholarship. My postgraduate work has developed my experience in professional production workflows, recording, mixing, MIDI programming and composing to picture. As part of the course, I completed an industry-led project with BBC Natural History, scoring a wildlife sequence to a producer brief before recording and mixing the score with a professional ensemble.

I primarily work in Logic Pro and also have experience with Pro Tools, Ableton Live and FMOD. My production approach includes synthesis, orchestral sample libraries, audio manipulation and resampling environmental sounds to create original textures.

Alongside my creative work, I have taught music since 2023 and focus on making technical concepts practical and accessible. Lessons are adapted around each student’s existing knowledge, musical interests and goals.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for musicians, composers and aspiring producers who want to develop practical music production skills and turn their musical ideas into professional, finished projects.

Lessons are tailored to your experience and creative goals, from learning your way around a DAW to developing more advanced production and mixing techniques.

Depending on your goals, lessons can cover Logic Pro, recording and editing audio, MIDI programming, virtual instruments, synthesis, sampling and resampling, EQ, compression, reverb, automation, mixing and preparing a finished track.

As a media composer, I can also teach production specifically for film, television and video games, including orchestral sample libraries, MIDI mock-ups, sound design, composing to picture and creating distinctive soundscapes.

I particularly enjoy exploring creative approaches to production. In my own work, I use techniques such as transforming environmental recordings and sound effects through sampling and resampling to create entirely new musical material.

Students are encouraged to bring their own sessions and works-in-progress so that we can apply techniques directly to their music rather than learning production only in theory.
