About William
While I have not taught anyone else French, I had to teach it to myself. I realized the difference between acquisition and learning when it comes to languages, an analogy being the difference between understanding why a joke is funny, and having someone explain to you why it should be funny. I used that knowledge to think of ways to acquire French, and it has been successful so far.

In terms of teaching languages, I have done research on the metacognition of language and how we learn it, and have applied that to my teaching methods. It will revolve around putting my students in a course structure that will challenge them, but not to the extent of them feeling lost. For example, for French, instead of learning random vocabulary, I ask my students to think of a daily situation like cooking in the kitchen, and make a mind map of the nouns and verbs specific to that situation. Also, since the hardest part of building a foundation in French is the conjugation, I will provide tips and tricks on how to store that information in long term memory.
