About Vanessa

I am born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, and moved to United Stated in 2013. I am passionate about medicine and education so in 2015, I started to pursue a career in healthcare while being a Spanish tutor. Since then, I have had multiple students from very diverse backgrounds and skill levels. From middle school students trying to pass their Spanish Class to adults who needed to improve their conversational Spanish for a job position. Interacting with diverse individuals show me the importance of personalizing my lessons to best fit each student's needs and goals. While getting my B.S in Biology at Georgetown University, I also participated in a more active teaching role as a teaching assistant where I helped create lessons and class materials for approximately 300 students. Now, I am a medical student who is looking to help and support your academic, personal, and/or career goals.

About the lesson

My lessons are not ordinary Spanish classes. First, I like to get to know you and learn what are your interests, hobbies, and learning styles. Then, I assess your strengths, weakness, and goals. With that information, I prepared my lessons with activities tailored to you and your learning style. For instance, if you are a dancer who is looking to improve your speaking skills, I would create activities where you have to verbally express your passion for dance. If there is no improvement, I am open to feedback to ensure these lessons are the best for you. More than a tutor, I am your biggest fan, and seeing your growth is my biggest reward. :)
