About Amanda
While earning my MFA and taking teaching pedagogy courses, the COVID-19 pandemic squashed my path toward TAing creative writing classes. As such, I made my own way; I began hosting writing workshops via Zoom (through my local library system) and on Discord, teaching groups of 10-40 learners, all with various backgrounds and competencies, how to write creatively (from outlining and writing to proofreading/editing and preparing for publication), craft a resume, and build sustainable writing practices that stick. When I'm not leveraging my MFA for these glorious purposes, I'm working my day job as a marketing writer for a healthcare company. You can also find me inhaling sci-fi novels and shonen manga at warp speed.

Our lessons are your space – my approach to teaching is rooted in the ethos that the ways many creative writing instructors are taught to teach are based on neurotypical and homogeneous models. As a neurodiverse person myself, I challenge that assertion, and my teaching techniques reflect that. My lessons will be tailored toward your desired topic, level of education (open to high school, trade school and college students), and background (e.g. whether you've written creatively all your life or only recently took the dive into storytelling).
