About Bethany
I'm a current 7th-grade teacher with firsthand experience in essay writing, public speaking, creative writing, and collaborative storytelling. I've helped students and peers with improving their writing, gaining strength in their public speaking, and making the concepts of the English language second nature.
Before I was a teacher, I was a student! I'm very familiar with the stress of wanting to do well but not understanding the material, or feeling like you're missing something. My approach is focused on helping you understand the material on a subconscious level, making the rules and logic of language second nature. I will never judge you on something you don't understand or struggle with. Let's work together to make you great!

I'm a current Middle School ELA provisional teacher with the Norfolk Public School District. I have a degree in the Liberal Arts with a focus in anthropology and sociology. I'm completing the licensure process for NPS for my full teaching certification. I've worked with students between the ages of 6-14 in a multitude of topics, but my skills are focused in English Language Arts and the theatrical arts. My experience ranges from 1-on-1 sessions to classrooms in the 30s. I've worked as a volunteer summer camp teacher and part time sewing teacher.
My teaching methods are a combination of relationship and socratic based methods. It's not enough to find the correct answer, it's the explanation behind the answer that shows true knowledge and understanding. I believe in making a relationship with my students and meeting them where they're at, using the trends they're interested in to help connect them to their topic and boost student engagement.
