About Gauri
"I am Gauri D. Rathi, the founder and dance director of Tanjavur Nritya Shala, Amravati. I have been learning Bharatanatyam in the Tanjavur style for many years, completed my Visharad, and I am currently pursuing my BPAB 2nd year from Bharat College of Fine Arts and Culture, Mumbai. For the past five years, I have been teaching Bharatanatyam to students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them discover not only dance but also confidence, discipline, and joy. Why do I teach? Because Bharatanatyam is not just a dance-it is a living tradition, a language of expressions, and a spiritual journey. I believe knowledge grows when it is shared, and my mission is to make this classical art form accessible, simple, and enjoyable for every student. Each class is my way of passing on the grace of this ancient tradition to the next generation, while also nurturing creativity and individuality. Teaching allows me to see my students grow as dancers and as individuals, and that gives me immense happiness"..

I give individual attention, correcting posture, mudras, and expressions. I adapt teaching speed based on each student's learning style. I have foundation in the authentic Tanjavur style (from my Visharad & BPAB studies). I give individual attention, correcting posture, mudras, and expressions. Instead of only steps, I emphasize the soul of Bharatanatyam-expressing emotions and stories through dance. Students get to learn not only traditional margam items but also semi-classical and creative choreographies for stage performances, school/college events, and competitions.
