About Anna

I am a PhD student in Applied Linguistics at the Complutense University of Madrid. My specialization is precisely intercomprehension. I met this method years ago at the University of Roma Tre when I participated in the EuRom5-2015 experiment. I am a linguist and a polyglot, I have lived in 6 countries and visited more than 30 others. It would be a pleasure to share my learning strategies with you!

About the lesson

Attention, it is not a Spanish course, but an intercomprehension course! Intercomprehension implies understanding a language close to one's own by exploiting cognitive strategies. During a 2-hour class we will read texts in Spanish, Portuguese, French and Catalan without studying them. The format is that of a challenge, you have to guess the words based on the context. But it is thanks to this inferential activity that you develop cognitive strategies. What's the use of all this? It serves to change the setting of the mind, the mentality. You become a polyglot, even if only in reading. You begin to see languages as something easy and known and not insurmountable. In fact you will see that it will be easier and easier to understand the texts in the languages we will use. What will you learn? - you will learn to guess words from the context - you will learn to reconstruct the meaning of paragraphs even if you only understand a few words - you will learn to recognize recurring elements between European languages which will also be useful for you, for example, to improve your English. What will you NOT learn? - you will not learn to speak in Spanish and any other of the 4 working languages - you will not learn grammar structures (maybe something yes, but it is not the goal of our work). In short, the course serves to develop the mentality of a polyglot that will eventually help you to learn any language of the three great European families. The duration is 20 hours, 4 per week.
