About Emily
I am keen to teach beginners and adults in all areas of my music ability. Currently finishing my Masters in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music and having recieved a BA (Hons.) in Music with Psychology last year means that I am very aware of the challenges associated with later learning and enjoy assisting beginners of any age as they begin their musical journey.
At the age of 18 I achieved my ABRSM diploma in flute as well as a grade 8 in ABRSM music theory. From the age of 16 I began teaching and mentoring flute players aged 8 and above at a beginner to intermediate level. I have been both the primary and supplementary teacher for these young people, taking lead in their flute and theory education as well as providing a supporting role as tutor where students had a school based teacher. Because of this, I always strive to learn about the students' aims before planning lessons to ensure that lessons are structured apparopriately.
Whilst at college I scored 100% on two of four psychology exams and went on to study this subject at degree level alongside a major in music. In the years following I have tutored two students through their AS level psychology where they achieved As. During this time I also took theory exams up to grade 8 and a diploma in flute performance giving me a firm understanding of the musical grade system for both performance and theory. At university I also took multiple theory modules where I scored highly.
I am very enthusiastic individual who's passion for these subjects has taken me on to further education and development both musically and psychologically. I work well in a positive environment and therefore foster a fun workplace for my pupils whilst maintaining focus on the end goals of high achievement.

I hated psychology and wanted to drop it when I had started it at A level but my parents said it was too good for my CV so I had to continue. I was failing on my coursework and didnt understand how the exmas worked. My brothers friend (Emily) then started to come over and tutor me, explaining more about the topics we were covering and showing me other more interesting parts of psychology that I never knew.. there were so many crazy experiments! Emily got me interested in the usbject and then we began to focus more on the exam. She was amazing. Psychology became my favourite topic!
