About Declan
My name is Declan, I'm an Australian producer, DJ and live act performing under the moniker 'LOIF'. I've been releasing music for 5 years on labels such as Animalia, Amniote Editions, Ute.Rec, Pressure Dome, Steeplejack, Pure Space, Faciendo and more. So far I have released three EPs and a full-length LP to critical acclaim. I also have experience as a touring DJ and live act, having toured for the last three years in Europe, the UK, Asia and North America. I have been teaching music production full time for nearly 4 years now and it's one of my greatest passions!

My lessons are designed to be flexible enough to teach any level of experience from complete beginner all the way up to professional musician/producer. For beginners I take you through how to navigate Ableton, basic synthesis and foundational music knowledge, my full workflow and any other questions you might have. For more advanced students, I aim to pinpoint where you might be having trouble - whether it's finishing tracks, mixing or taking you through my approach to sound design and arrangement, I'm confident you will get some new ideas and perspectives on making music!
I currently teach lessons as one-on-one, hour-long classes (with the option of doing two sessions back-to-back for two hours), either over Zoom or in person at my home studio in North Melbourne. The content of the lessons vary depending on the person I'm teaching but mostly involve sound design, workflow, arrangement and other technical skills within Ableton and third-party plugins, as well as music production ideas and concepts that can be applied more generally and aren't necessarily just focused on Ableton.
I can also chat about DJing and performing live if that's something that you're interested in! I'm flexible with how you'd like lessons structured and am happy to adapt to people's needs if I am able I also offer music production mixing work/lessons as well as providing feedback on people's music if that's something you're after.
We can also cover more abstract topics like navigating the music industry and finding your musical voice.
