About Dylan

I have been playing the piano since I was about 5 years old but I found the classical book music extremely boring. After some years, I quit lessons and taught myself piano and later music theory through YouTube.

When I got to high school I was involved with marching, concert, and jazz band and took music theory classes, including at AP level. Also during high school, I discovered music that changed my life through artists like Avicii and Martin Garrix. Yearning for more than a piano sound I found their YouTube tutorial breakdowns, figured out what an FL Studio was, and got on the grind of music production. The more I practiced, the more I loved it, which solidified my decision to apply and later attend Berklee College of Music.

At Berklee I further honed what kind of music I loved and was taught how to stop using generic preset and sample packs, instead using the DAW to create my sounds from scratch. I learned the proper way to mix, master, sound design, record, and edit audio, and with that, the ways to break these rules to make something more unique (yet still enjoyable).

My current favorite artists and biggest inspirations are Virtual Riot, Au5, Underbelly, brakence, Scro, Skybreak, and Kero.

About the lesson

Whether you're struggling with music theory, sound design, mixing, mastering, or just getting something down in the DAW, I can help wherever you need it.

For whatever skill you want to hone, we will start by analyzing your favorite artists, seeing what they tend to do, and then reconstructing it piece by piece. For example, we can look at a very synth-heavy song, choose your favorite sounds, and recreate them from scratch using either stock or third-party plugins. We can build these synths to push their boundaries further than their original use. Once you understand how your favorite producers create their sounds and tracks, you can use our reconstructed versions to create something entirely new.

Plugins that I own and can help you become proficient in:
- Serum
- Vital
- Izotope Suite
- Native Instruments Suite
- Zynaptiq Morph and Pitchmap
- Output Portal
- And many more! If you want specific help with a plugin, whether third-party or stock, please let me know so I can prepare accordingly

I mainly work in EDM/Trap and with Ableton Live 11 and FL Studio but am more than willing to help in any genre or DAW. As far as stock plugin capabilities though, my strengths are very much set in Ableton and FL.
