About Vashu

I am a pianist and music educator with 17 years of formal music study, currently preparing for the LTCL (Licentiate of Trinity College London) performance diploma.

My musical training includes piano performance up to Grade 8 with Distinction, as well as Trinity Rock & Pop Keyboard Grade 8 with Distinction. I have worked extensively on musicianship alongside performance and have participated in masterclasses with internationally recognized pianists including Leonel Morales, Leo de María, Ji-Hye Jung, Marouan Benabdallah and Douglas Finch.

I also have extensive performance experience, including international academies and competitions. I was awarded Second Prize and Special Mention at the Princess Lalla Meryem International Piano Competition in 2025 and received a full scholarship to the Mozarteum University Salzburg International Summer Academy in 2024 and 2025.

My approach to theory is closely connected to actual musicianship: students learn not only to answer examination questions, but to understand how music works and apply that knowledge when reading, listening to and performing music.

About the lesson

Music Theory taught for exams, school curricula and practical musicianship

I offer structured music theory and musicianship lessons for children, school students and serious music students, with teaching tailored to their current level and examination requirements.

I can help students prepare for:

ABRSM Music Theory Grades

Trinity Music Theory / Theory-related requirements

GCSE & IGCSE Music

ICSE / ISC Music

IB Music

as well as other school and examination-board requirements, where the syllabus is compatible with the student's level and goals.

Lessons can cover:

Music notation and reading
Scales, keys and key signatures
Intervals and chords
Harmony and chord progressions
Rhythm and metre
Musical terms and notation
Melody and composition
Analysis and musical structure
Aural skills and listening
Sight-reading and musicianship
Examination technique and question-solving
Applying theory directly to piano performance

Rather than treating theory as a separate academic subject, I connect it to real music. Students learn to recognise what they see on the page, hear it internally, understand its harmonic and structural function, and apply it when performing.

For examination students, lessons can be organised around the relevant syllabus, with systematic preparation, practice questions and targeted work on weaker areas.

For younger students, I focus on making theoretical concepts clear and intuitive rather than relying purely on memorisation.

Vashu sir is one of the best young pianists in India, as of now. With a number of prizes to his name, be it national or international competitions, he stays grounded and humble.
He understands the students very well and customizes the lesson plans based on their strengths and weaknesses.
Vashu sir does not promise immediate results, but if one follows his method of practice diligently, then I'm sure that person would see major improvement in a couple of months. His sound knowledge of music theory is an added advantage because he breaks down each composition and explains exactly why the composition sounds that way.
He is jolly and very approachable also. I have had a great experience with Vashu sir so far and I'm very grateful to have an instructor like him.
