About Wiebke

Music has been my passion ever since I was 6 and wanted to be a composer. When I was 7 I decided I wanted to learn the violin and my parents supported me, even though they themselves aren't musicians. Since then I've explored many different facettes of music - from playing in a symphony orchestra over tapdance, singing and dancing while playing the violin to trying out every musical instrument I could get my hands on.
My main passions lie in historically informed performance, especially improvisation, as well as traditional styles, such as Klezmer or Irish fiddle tunes. I also compose.

About the lesson

I don't follow any particular school or lesson plan.
I find it much more beneficial and fun for both pupil and teacher to find out the approach and repertoire that fits each individual student best.
If film music is what got you into music, we'll focus mainly on that. If instead you love classical music - we'll find you classical pieces to play.
Balance is all important. We should focus mainly on the aspect of music that you like so much that it makes you *want* to practice, rather than you having to force yourself to play scales you don't actually care about.
However, I think it's also important to keep an open mind and learn what else is out there. So even if you prefer film music, we'll slip in a little fiddle tune or classical piece here and there.
Some basic training in music theory will be integrated into the lessons.
Another thing I find important is to balance reading music and playing by ear. Some of the best musicians couldn't read music and our ears are our most important tools as musicians. But it is also very useful to be able to sight-read fluently, especially when you want to play with others quickly.

The length of the lesson depends on your needs and wants.
For beginners, especially very young ones, I recommend 30-45min and for intermediate to advanced pupils, 60-90 min.

If you forget to cancel and especially if I travelled in vain, please reimburse me for the time I lost by paying 50% of the lesson cost. Thank you!
Travel costs only apply if I have to take public transport or have to travel further than 20min by bike.
