About Katie
Hi! I’m Katie, a final-year UCL student here to teach you Chinese. Learning Chinese isn’t always about memorising 拼音 (Ping1Jam1) or lists of compound characters. Ultimately, you want to be able to talk to locals effortlessly. No matter what your goal is - Conversing in Cantonese, improvement for A-Levels Chinese or just wanting to learn a new language without the rigidity of textbooks and syllabuses - I’m here to help!

My lessons are suitable for all ages, with the aim of helping students achieve fluency. Students can choose between focusing on written or spoken Chinese, or both. Oral lessons will target Cantonese intonation through casual conversations to help students practise for daily situations. For written lessons, you will learn how to read and write basic emails, letters and texts; and for more advanced students, some simple literary appreciation. There is no fixed syllabus - Everything is flexible and tailored to your needs.
I have been tutoring both English and Chinese since 2019, and I am particularly experienced with Grade school students. I achieved Level 5* (A* equivalent) in Chinese in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE).
Lessons range between 1-1.5 hours.
