About Eilis

As a student, I didn’t like school very much. However I remember the few teachers who made class creative and exciting, they were my motivation to do well, and It was in these classes I did best always. I became an EFL teacher after I met my now husband, who is from Brazil. I wanted to learn Portuguese, just as he had wanted to learn English beforehand. I think knowing a second language is like knowing a whole other world, so, if I want to learn another language from someone else, then I should too teach a language!

As an ESL teacher I am committed to providing: engagement, efficacy, and enjoyment! I believe that a strong foundation in speaking, listening, and grammar is essential for language learning and I strive to tailor each lesson to cater to these fundamental skills.

I believe engagement is paramount, I make sure to captivate my student’s full attention through dynamic, interactive activities and personalized learning experiences that they will be able to apply in a real life setting.

I aim to make lessons both enjoyable and memorable, fostering a positive and enriching learning environment, students should not be bored in class, they should look forward to and enjoy learning!

My emphasis on building rapport with students enables me to understand their individual needs, preferences, and learning styles, allowing me to tailor lessons to their specific goals and interests.
