About Paul
My business experience includes consulting work for UK mobile telecoms companies, and managing new house building projects for social housing. I have been a board member of two multi-million pound charities. My work as a registered nurse has included being general manager of a nursing home. I have an MBA from Cranfield, one of the UK’s most prestigious business schools. As a manager I have always strived to encourage my team to perform better, and have been proud of what we have achieved together.
I come from a family of teachers, and so it feels natural for me to want to pass on some of my experience to others. I will soon be starting the Cambridge CELTA TEFL course, and am looking forward to adding to my skills. I see teaching as teamwork between the learner and tutor, and tailor my lessons to the student’s expressed goals so that they can achieve them.
For example, if you had to prepare a presentation for work, not only would I help you with your language skills, but I would check the concepts and information being presented to ensure it stands up to scrutiny, and help you perfect the slides and your delivery style.

How well we do in our career depends on the impact we have on others, which in turn depends on how well we communicate. If you struggle to speak English confidently, or your accent makes it difficult for others to understand you, this will hamper your career. But good communication is more than just language: it involves building rapport, and learning to structure our thoughts clearly and succinctly.
I can help you in all these areas.
I have an MBA from Cranfield (which is regularly ranked highly by organisations such as the Financial Times). I am also a qualified nurse. My management experience includes healthcare and 20 years in commercial and residential property. I am about to start the CELTA course to qualify in TEFL. I can help people develop better English, including pronunciation, together with better business skills, for example, interview preparation, presentations and writing reports.
I take a coaching approach, so we would work together on the project you are currently engaged in. I will help you formulate your goals and learn strategies to achieve them. I believe encouragement is the best way to achieve deep learning, and will help you develop this skill also, which will be really useful in business and your personal life too!
