About Romain

Bonjour ! My name is Romain and I will be very happy to help you learn my mother language I love so much. I have taught French in a secondary school in Germany, at University in the USA and I also gave summer classes in Canada, Germany, and France. I want to make use of my experience and skills for your benefit and to improve yourself and gain confidence in Molière's language. A little bit about myself: I fell in love with Ireland and the Irish language and my long-term goal would be to teach French in Irish. I am therefore currently learning Irish and this helps me in my teaching because it reminds me of the challenges one can face by learning a foreign language. Besides English and some Irish, I am also fluent in German. À bientôt!

About the lesson

Bonjour ! My lessons are mainly focused on conversation and practice, but I am always happy to answer questions about every aspect of my mother language and I always adjust to the needs of the student. I am also very happy to help when there is a grammatical or a spelling struggle. I also believe (and have experienced) that making mistakes is part of the learning process and I always encourage students to see them as an occasion for growth and progress rather than something wrong. My lessons last approximately 50 minutes (plus 10 minutes for extra questions). We usually begin class with a couple of minutes of informal chatting about the day just passed in order to warm up and then we proceed to the core of the lesson. I typically ask the students what they want to focus on during the lesson (oral comprehension, expression, writing an essay, preparing a presentation, preparing for the DELF examination, etc.). I taught French as a second language for two years and I did tutoring with French learning students in the US for one year. I have also given the DELF examination in Germany. I can give lessons to all levels and to students aged 12 and more, so everyone learning French above this age is welcome! À bientôt!
