After having learned several languages myself I have found that the best approach to a new language is using it rather than getting stuck on grammar and rules. Those are important but you need to get a feeling for a language in order to understand how it works. This is the way I want to teach German, by simply using it and continuing with grammar, pronounciation, etc from there.
