About Matteo

I love teaching Italian, and I take it just as seriously as I take my own studies; every lesson is planned with you in mind, built around where you're starting from and what you're excited to get out of it.

Want to hold your first real conversation? Prepping for an exam? Just want to stop feeling shy speaking Italian out loud? Tell me, and we'll build toward it together.

After years of teaching Italian specifically to non-native speakers, I've gotten pretty good at spotting the same tricky spots that trip most learners up — so instead of a one-size-fits-all script, you'll get explanations that actually make sense for you. And if something doesn't click during the lesson, just message me after. I'm happy to clarify or send over a bit of extra practice.

Lessons happen online, so wherever you are, you can join right from home. I'm based in Singapore (GMT+8) and more than happy to find a time that works for your timezone too.

About the lesson

I focus on making Italian practical and usable, not just theoretical. Having taught Italian to foreigners for 6 years while living outside Italy myself, I know firsthand which habits and grammar points trip up non-native learners and how to explain them without jargon. My lessons combine a solid grammar foundation with real conversation from early on, so you build both accuracy and the confidence to actually speak.
Since I've also taught economics, statistics, and mathematics to first-year university students, I bring a structured, step-by-step teaching style breaking down anything that feels confusing into clear, manageable pieces and adapting the pace to how each student learns.
Lesson length: 60 minutes, adjustable depending on what works best for you.
Experience & qualifications: Native Italian speaker with 6 years of part-time experience tutoring Italian to foreigners, plus prior experience teaching economics, statistics, and mathematics at university level. Currently pursuing an MSc in Finance at NUS (Aaron & Ellie Scholarship) and hold a Bachelor's in International Business from Maastricht University (Cum Laude).
Who lessons are for: Kids, teens and adult beginners through intermediate learners (A1–B2), whether starting from scratch or looking to solidify what you already know. Delivered online.
