About Nanako

Hello! I'm Nanako, a native Japanese speaker with extensive experience guiding students through their language journey. I have a proven track record as a language instructor at a cram school, where I have successfully taught learners of all backgrounds and goals. -My Teaching Style & Personality Encouraging & Patient: I am genuinely committed to making your learning experience stress-free and enjoyable. I am exceptionally patient, kind, and supportive, ensuring you feel comfortable speaking Japanese, even if you are just starting out or making mistakes. I am highly flexible with my teaching methods and resources to adapt to your pace and unique needs. -What You Can Expect From My Lessons Dedicated to All Levels: Whether you are an absolute beginner learning the basics, an intermediate student focusing on fluency, or an advanced learner refining your skills, I am expertly equipped to guide you. 100% Goal-Oriented Customization: Every lesson is fully personalized and based on your specific goals and interests. We will design a clear path to achieve your targets—whether it's conversation for travel, exam preparation, understanding anime, or focusing on reading comprehension. Clear Structure: I always begin by assessing your needs to design the most effective learning plan with you (see Lesson Flow for details). Ready to start? Let's discuss your Japanese goals and start building your fluency today!

About the lesson

Here is how I we structure our time to ensure you get the most effective and enjoyable lessons:

1. Initial Assessment
To provide you with the optimal lesson, I will always confirm the following points at the beginning of our first lesson:

Your Reason / Goal / Interests for learning Japanese.

Examples of Goals:

・“I want to practice listening and speaking phrases necessary for traveling in Japan.”

・“I want to be able to watch anime without subtitles.”

・“I want to prepare for studying abroad in Japan.”

Don't worry if your goals aren't perfectly clear yet! We will spend time refining them together.

2. Lesson Design and Agreement
Based on the assessment in Step 1, we will specify and agree on the optimal lesson content that leads directly to your goal.

Example: If your goal is “to practice listening/speaking phrases for traveling,” we will decide on the exact situations you want to focus on (e.g., Airport, Hotel, Shopping, Asking for Directions).

3. Proceeding with the Lesson
Once the content is agreed upon, we will immediately proceed with the core part of the lesson.

Please feel free to ask questions or make requests at any time.

It's absolutely okay to speak slowly or make mistakes! This is a patient and supportive environment.

She is a very kind and patient teacher. When I told her I wanted to prepare for a trip to Japan, she listened to the details—where I was going, what I wanted to do—and thought about what kind of conversations might come up. She also taught me about manners on public transportation, which was very helpful.
