About Andrew

I am passionate about education and helping students grow, not just in their learning but in their confidence. I am currently a Master of Teaching student at Monash University, and I completed a degree in Finance in China, so I enjoy connecting with students over a wide range of interests — from business and economics to everyday life.
Outside of teaching, I am a keen sportsperson: I love tennis, basketball, swimming and fitness training, and I am always happy to chat about sport, whether it is the AFL, the World Cup, or the NBA. I have been into fitness and strength training for years, so I can talk about that too.
I believe learning works best when students feel relaxed and supported, so I aim to be patient, friendly and encouraging. I want my students to enjoy our lessons and feel comfortable being themselves — that is when real progress happens.

About the lesson

I am a native Mandarin speaker and a Master of Teaching student at Monash University, offering Chinese lessons for beginners through to advanced learners, as well as exam preparation. My students range from young children to adults, and I tailor every lesson to each learner’s level, goals and pace.
My teaching is patient, structured and engaging. A typical lesson combines speaking practice, useful vocabulary, clear grammar explanations, and real-life conversation, so students build confidence and can actually use what they learn. For younger students, I use games, stories and interactive activities to keep learning fun; for older students and exam candidates, I focus on targeted practice and clear feedback.
What sets me apart is my professional teaching training at Monash combined with my native fluency and bilingual ability — I can explain Chinese clearly in English, which makes lessons easy to follow for English-speaking students. I create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and improving step by step.
