About Haoyu

Hi, I’m Haoyu, a native Mandarin speaker from Beijing with clear, standard pronunciation and a deep understanding of Chinese language and culture. I'm currently pursuing my Master's degree at the National University of Singapore, where I study in English daily, so I can easily communicate with English-speaking students and explain tricky grammar points clearly. I have experience teaching both adults and children. One of my students, an international graduate, successfully reached HSK 5 level within a 6-month time through regular lessons with me. I’ve also taught beginner-level Mandarin to young children, adapting my pace and materials to suit their learning style. My students appreciate my patience, clarity, and engaging approach. With a background in science and engineering, I bring a structured and logical mindset to my lessons while keeping them interactive and fun. I believe that language learning should be practical and confidence-boosting, and I’m committed to helping you reach your goals – whether it’s passing HSK exams or holding natural conversations in Chinese.

About the lesson

As a native Mandarin speaker with hands-on tutoring experience, I offer fully customized lessons that fit each student’s goals, level, and learning style. Whether you're preparing for HSK exams, improving daily conversation, or just starting out, I’ve got you covered.

Each class is 50 minutes long (plus 10 mins review) and designed to be engaging, effective, and culturally rich. I’ve taught adult learners preparing for HSK 5 as well as children learning Mandarin from scratch. I adjust my pace, vocabulary, and materials to match your age, interests, and proficiency level.

My teaching blends structured progress (like pinyin, tones, grammar) with practical use – from real-life dialogues to idioms and cultural insights. You’ll not only learn how to speak, read, and write Mandarin, but also understand the “why” behind it.
