About Vega

I grew up in Taiwan and visited China often, and so I am fluent in both traditional and simplified Chinese. I can teach you how to distinguish the subtle differences between the two when it comes to speaking and writing, as well as the culture. I have taught Chinese to both native Chinese speakers and English speakers before, which has given me ways to help beginners and advanced learners understand better. Having experience as a student learning other languages myself, I understand the possible learning difficulties in different situations and this has allowed me to be more thoughtful and take better care of my students’ learning processes.

About the lesson

I like to have my students learn in a stress-free environment. Instead of word banks and grammar rules, which can often feel boring, I often introduce vocabularies with stories and examples while making connections with English sentence structures. This allows my students to learn naturally and gives them references for future usage. When approaching each topic, I normally mention synonyms, antonyms, relevant vocabularies or phrases surrounding the teaching material. I also like to repeat the words that my students are unfamiliar with, encourage them to use new phrases to express themselves to make the language more instinctive. I believe the most important function of a language is communication. Therefore, even though I focus on my students' speaking, I start by focusing on general conversation abilities more than the fine details like little mistakes that doesn’t effect understnading.
