About Haiyan

Hello! I’m Haiyan, a native Mandarin Chinese teacher from Beijing with over 900 online Chinese lessons taught to students from different countries and backgrounds.
I specialize in spoken Chinese, HSK preparation, practical Chinese for daily life, and Chinese for work and business. I also help school and university students strengthen their Chinese, review course materials, and build confidence in speaking.
Before becoming a full-time Chinese teacher, I worked in international trade, import-export, and purchasing, so my Business Chinese lessons are based on practical workplace situations rather than textbook language alone.
I graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in Environmental Art Design and have studied Chinese calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting since childhood. I enjoy bringing Chinese culture into my lessons when it helps students understand the language more naturally.
I believe Chinese lessons should be structured, practical, and personalized. Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for HSK, learning Chinese for work, or simply want to communicate more confidently, I will create a learning plan based on your level and goals.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalized according to your level, goals, and learning style.
HSK & Structured Chinese
Systematic lessons covering vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, speaking, and exam preparation. I teach learners from beginner level through advanced HSK.
Practical & Spoken Chinese
Learn the Chinese people actually use in everyday life — introductions, restaurants, shopping, transportation, travel, social situations, and natural conversation.
Business Chinese
Practical Chinese for meetings, purchasing, suppliers, negotiations, workplace communication, business travel, and professional situations. My previous experience in international trade and purchasing allows me to bring real business scenarios into class.
School & University Chinese Support
I can also help students review their school curriculum, assignments, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and speaking, with lessons adapted to their current course materials.
What you can expect:
• Personalized lesson plans
• Clear explanations in English when needed
• Pinyin and pronunciation support
• Speaking practice from the beginning
• Learning materials provided after class
• Regular review and feedback
Your first session can be used to assess your current level, discuss your goals, and create a learning plan for your next stage of Chinese learning.
