About Joe
I am an enthusiastic, friendly person who trained in acting. The skills I learnt have served me since I started tutoring 8 years ago, ensuring that my communication is clear, direct and encouraging. I think one of the most important things a student can have when approaching various exams / challenges is the confidence to move forward, trusting their skills and the work that they have done to see them through. I have worked with students of all ages, and the one common denominator I have seen is that if a student is enjoying their sessions as much as they can, whilst also putting in the work, then - with the right guidance - they can do whatever they set their mind to. It is this mindset I aim to create in my students - through a variety of methods, varying according to the student / subject. I also believe that identifying these differences is what makes an effective tutor, and it is something I prioritise highly in my approach.
I firmly believe that each student is different and has different needs, and that the advantage of private tutoring is that it is much quicker to both identify and work out how to meet these specific needs. I am the person I am today because of certain teachers in my adolescence, and I have continued to work on what they have taught me long after we parted ways.

As I have already said, I think that confidence is one of the main things that a tutor has to instill in a student, as well as making the classes both dynamic and fun - one learns best when it doesn't seem like typical "work" and the student is engaged and committed. Through this approach I aim to help the student develop the skills and tools they need not just to pass their exams, but to continue moving forward long after our tutoring sessions have finished.
