About Luciana

Hey there! My name is Luciana, I'm 31 years old and I'm from Argentina. I've been living in Melbourne for a year and a half and been loving it.
It was never in my plans to come to Australia, but I met several aussies while travelling abroad, and always clicked with them. So I finally decided to move here.
I have several years of teaching experience. I taught videography to underprivileged teenagers in Argentina, while working for a human rights organisation and loved every second of it. I believe that patience and working in a safe space with no judgement or criticism are key for a good learning experience.
I studied English since I was 5 years old, and was reading Harry Potter books in English when I was 11. Also studied 4 years of French, and lived in France for a year.
I've always loved languages, and they have (luckily) come very easy to me.
Since I left Argentina 5 years ago, I've lived in several English speaking countries, like England, the United States and Australia and have helped many friends with their Spanish. I tutored a friend recently, who went on a one year trip to Latin America and loved it so much, I would love to help other people with their learning of my native language :)
I am really into culture, love reading, watching films (I'm a biiiiig film enthusiast and have a lot of recommendations for good movies in Spanish) and going to music gigs.
I live in Brunswick and would love to meet with inner north people who are interested in bettering their Spanish skills.

About the lesson

Learning a new language can be very intimidating. For me, the best ways to get better are practice and constancy.
As I was learning English as a kid and French as a young adult, I've noticed that reading is the easiest, after that comes writing and listening, but the hardest is always speaking. In my personal experience, there is a bit of shame to sound silly, or make mistakes, but once you cross that doorway, everything becomes easier and you just get better and better.
This is why I want to open a safe space where you can feel free to make mistakes, as they are essential in the process of learning. Having lessons together and talking on a regular basis will help you learn more vocabulary, and interiorise grammar theory, which is the backbone to become a fluent speaker of any language.
The lessons are 45 min long and I work with students in the age range of 25 - 60.
