About Jon

I am a passionate language enthusiast from Spain, currently studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at Durham University. Last year, I graduated from school in Spain with top marks, driven by a strong commitment to academic excellence.

My journey with languages has been an exciting and rewarding experience. For several years, I have been teaching Spanish to English speakers and English to Spanish speakers. This bilingual exchange has allowed me to understand the unique challenges learners face and develop effective teaching strategies to overcome them.

My Teaching Methodology
Exam Preparation (DELE, IB, GCSE, A-Level): For students aiming to excel in Spanish exams, I follow a structured, three-step approach:

1. See the Exam: We begin by analysing the exam structure—understanding its format, key focus areas, and tactics for avoiding common pitfalls. I assess your strengths and weaknesses to tailor the lessons accordingly.

2. Prepare for the Exam: Lessons are customised to cover all exam components. For example, when there is a cultural section, engaging with a native Spanish speaker like me can provide invaluable insights, boosting your confidence and potential marks.

3. Think About the Exam: Self-reflection is crucial in any learning process. Together, we will evaluate your progress, identify areas needing improvement, and devise guided personal work to enhance your readiness.

General Learning: For those interested in learning Spanish for fun, travel, music, or professional purposes, I adapt my lessons to fit your unique goals. Whether you want to enhance oral comprehension and speaking skills or focus more on writing, my lessons are flexible to match your needs.

Lesson Structure
My lessons are typically just over an hour long, with a short break to maximise productivity and prevent fatigue. While spaced learning sessions throughout the day are ideal, exam preparation might require longer, more intensive classes at times.

Qualifications and Experience
I have tutored Spanish on Duolingo Classes, where I designed a course to achieve the DELE B1 qualification. I've also tutored A-Level Spanish (AQA) through Tutor The Nation and have had several independent tutees.
