About Amrit

I am a Law tutor with 9 years of experience across Law, Sociology, Criminology and Politics, alongside previous experience in early-years Maths, English and Science tutoring.

Having ADHD myself, alongside traits associated with autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia and dyscalculia, I understand that highly intelligent and capable students do not always thrive within conventional learning methods. I remained undiagnosed throughout my own academic journey, yet achieved strong academic results by developing personalised revision systems, learning techniques and structure-based strategies that worked specifically for the way my brain processes information. Many of these approaches now form part of the methods my own students consistently praise and benefit from.

Academically, I graduated with a First Class Law and Sociology LLB before achieving a High Merit in my Law with Social Justice Master’s at UCL. I have also completed the Bar Course at ICCA, the professional training course for aspiring barristers, funded by two highly competitive scholarships.

My wider experience includes volunteering in schools to teach sessions on law, politics and social rights, independently running a Sixth Form Law Society, and conducting socio-legal research as Head of Research for a legal education charity. I have also attended and received offers to study at leading global universities.

My lessons are highly adaptable and tailored to the individual student rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. I focus particularly on exam technique, essay and problem-question structure, exam familiarity, active recall, confidence building and helping students understand exactly what examiners are looking for.

For Law students, this often means breaking complicated legal rules and assessment objectives into clear, logical steps before applying them to exam-style questions. I place particular emphasis on helping students move beyond simply knowing the law towards understanding how to use that knowledge effectively in an exam.

A typical lesson may involve the student brainstorming an essay or problem question from memory, with structured prompts and clues from me where needed. We then identify gaps, correct misunderstandings and develop their answer into a stronger essay plan or worked example. This allows me to see exactly what the student can independently recall and where support is actually needed.

I have worked with many neurodivergent students, including students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and other learning differences. My teaching therefore places a strong emphasis on clarity, structure and reducing overwhelm. Where appropriate, I also introduce personalised revision and organisation strategies so that students develop skills they can use independently outside our lessons.

Ultimately, my aim is not simply to teach students more content, but to help them understand how to learn, revise and answer Law questions effectively and confidently.
